Falcons Fly Steady for the Winter Sports Season
Middle School Boys Basketball A:
O’Neal vs. Northwood Temple 48-34 W
The Falcons traveled to Fayetteville on Monday and picked up a conference win against Northwood Temple Academy. The Falcons got off to an explosive start, jumping out to an 18-4 lead in the first quarter thanks to a combination of strong defense and hot shooting. The Falcons played tough on both ends of the court, forcing turnovers and keeping Northwood Temple from getting into a rhythm. The Falcons showed a total team effort with six players scoring and 12 players seeing action. We are excited to keep building on this win.

O’Neal vs. Fayetteville Christian 41-28 W
The Falcons picked up another conference win Thursday night, this time at home vs Fayetteville Christian. The Falcons fell behind early 6-4 to end the first quarter. The Falcons locked in on defense and offense to win the second quarter 17-6 to take a 21-12 lead heading into halftime. The Falcons pulled away in the second half thanks to a continued effort on defense and aggressive play at the rim. We were able to get 11 players in the game, and everyone contributed to the victory. The Falcons travel to Fayetteville Academy next Thursday for another conference game.

Varsity Boys Basketball:
O’Neal vs Northwood Temple Academy FINAL 20-84, L
The Falcons were back on the road after coming off a week long Thanksgiving to face off against Northwood Temple Academy.  The Falcons came out with a slow start in the first half and were looking to get back in their groove as the game progressed. In the second half, the Falcons began to see some success in making shots and showed more aggression. Northwood Temple played a solid game, hitting early shots and playing good defense.  Freshman Jacob Lindsey led the Falcons in scoring with 9 points, while Joseph Lucas added 4 points. Other contributors to the scoring were Max Pashley (3 points), Jack Manning (2 points), and Harrison Buchan (2 points). The Falcons left the game with their heads held high and will gear up to face Westchester Country Day on Friday.

All-School Cheer:
The All-School Cheer team had a great week! The team is improving their stunts and performed yesterday at the middle school boys basketball game. A special shout out to the VARSITY SPIRIT ALL STAR Cheerleader, Kennedy Yates, who earned that title at camp last summer and was able to cheer in the Disney Thanksgiving Parade in Orlando over the holiday! She represented O'Neal as an outstanding cheerleader and did amazing! Check out the team next week at the Varsity basketball games for Silent Night on Wednesday, December 11th.

Middle School Swimming
MS Swim Team competed in an attendance challenge over Thanksgiving Break with the Varsity Swim Team!  It was great to see them over break to keep up their fitness; however, Varsity truly "showed up" for this challenge winning by a landslide.  The whole team was back in action this week with intense training, a test set, and FLYday-Friday.  The Falcons are gearing up for their next meet on 12/12 against St. Thomas of More and Village Christian of Fayetteville followed by a team dinner.

Varsity Swimming
The Falcon swim team had the week off from competition, so they were able to put in some great training this week. The team is working hard and putting in the time required to reach their goals. The next competition will be next Thursday 12/12/24 against Village Christian and St. Thomas More Academy.

Middle School Girls Basketball:
O’Neal vs Northwood Temple FINAL: 11-21, L
The Lady Falcon basketball team kicked off conference play with a game against Northwood Temple last night, ultimately falling 21-11. The team had a slow start in the first half, with small turnovers from traveling, perhaps a result of shaking off the rust from the Thanksgiving break. Despite the early struggles, the girls showed resilience, as shots began to fall in the second half. Their determination was evident in their tenacity on the boards and relentless pursuit of loose balls. Though the game didn’t go their way, this young team continues to learn and grow with each game!

O’Neal vs St. David’s School FINAL: 5-45, L
The Falcons faced off against St. David's School in a non-conference matchup, demonstrating their determination in another hard-fought battle. While the game did not result in a win, the team embraced the opportunity to grow and learn from the experience. Basketball is about more than just the final score; it’s about overcoming challenges and coming together as a unit. With a small roster, the players are pushing themselves through significant minutes on the court, demonstrating effort and perseverance. As the season progresses, the focus remains on mastering fundamentals and making incremental improvements, which will contribute to long-term success.

Varsity Girls Basketball:
O’Neal vs Northwood Temple FINAL: 61-17, W
The Lady Falcons traveled to Northwood Temple on Monday to take on Northwood’s Lady Eagles. The Falcons came away with a big win from keeping control of each aspect of the game. Amongst the leaders was Jamaya Hooker with a season-high of 19 points and 5 steals. Judah Sibley added to the success with 21 points and 6 steals. Each game the team is connecting more on the court. The upward trajectory for this group is steep as they have only been a unit for a few weeks and are already seeing huge improvements in connection on and off the court. The Falcons will be at home next Tuesday 12/10 against Father Capodanno and Wednesday 12/11 at 5:00 for the Silent Night Game.
