Summer Camps

SWIM

O’Neal Aquatics will be offering a small group swim lesson for 1/2-day PreK camps this year. The ratio will be 4 to 1. On the first day instructors will assess swimmers and put them into level 1 or 2 based on their individual abilities. Swimmers will move through the skill sheets and will be moved to the next level when they have passed their current level. Lessons will be Monday-Thursday from 11:15am-11:50am.

ART

1st-2nd grade camp:  "All About Animals" (June 9-13) 12:00pm to 3:15pm
Art projects will center around all types of animals with projects done in both 2 and 3 dimensions.  We will experience as many different media as possible during the week.
 
3rd-4th grades camp: “Water, Water, everywhere” (July 14-18) 12:00pm to 3:15pm
All projects will focus on water as either the subject of our work or through the media we use. 
 
5th-6th grade camp: “Time Travelers” (July 7-11) 8:00am-3:15pm
We will look at art throughout history and create projects inspired by various cultures and their beliefs.  Cave art, Greek and Roman Gods and Goddesses, Taoism, Mayan Culture, Egyptian and others.

WRITING CAMP

The Write Stuff - July 21-25 12:00pm to 3:15pm - 5th-8th Grade
 
Do you have what it takes to create characters, put them in an interesting scenario and bring it to a conclusion leaving your readers wanting more? This Summer Camp Enrichment is perfect for the student with an interest in developing their skills in creative writing.  Every day we’ll work on aspects of creative writing ranging from characterization, plot development, creating conclusions and finding inspiration. Each day your writer will have the opportunity to write a short story that’s either completed or a solid work in progress.
 
The Write Stuff campers must bring a laptop daily.
The Write Stuff will be led by Craig Rogers. Mr. Rogers has been part of the O’Neal faculty since 2021 and currently teaches Pre-K4 in the Lower School. Prior to O’Neal, he was a successful columnist and author. His next two books are scheduled to be released this year.

STEM

Week 1 - June 9th-13th - Nature Explorers
 
8:00am to 11:30am - 1st-2nd Grade
  • Problem-solving puzzles to “unlock” hidden treasures.
  • Nature scavenger hunts (collecting leaves and rocks for STEM analysis).
  • Rainbows in a Jar: Create colorful density experiments using liquids.
  • Leaf Art & Science: Identify leaves, learn their parts, and create leaf rubbings.
 
12:00pm to 3:15pm - 3rd-5th Grade
  • Engineering a model ecosystem (terrarium building).
  • Exploring renewable energy with solar ovens.
 
Week 2 - June 16th-20th - Adventure Quest
 
8:00am to 11:30am - 1st-2nd Grade
  • Make a Paper Mars Helicopter.
  • Design and test mini obstacle courses for toy cars.
  • Build and test rafts using corks and popsicle sticks.
 
12:00pm to 3:15pm - 3rd-5th Grade
  • Create and race balloon-powered cars.
  • Engineering a bridge strong enough for a toy adventurer to cross.
  • Designing and testing a mini catapult.
  • Solve engineering and math puzzles to “escape” the room.
 
Week 3 - June 23rd-27th - Around the World
 
8:00am to 11:30am - 1st-2nd Grade
  • Build and decorate paper rockets to “travel” to different countries.
  • Create geometric patterns inspired by global designs.
  • Design parachutes for mini figures.
 
12:00pm to 3:15pm - 3rd-5th Grade
  • Experimenting with weather simulations from around the world.
  • Use CoSPaces EDU, a VR program, to create a remote worldly location.

LEGO

Come and explore Lego creations and unleash your inner creativity! Design, construct and compete in fun-filled Lego themed sessions.
