FALCONS BOUNCE BACK FROM SPRING BREAK
Varsity Boys Golf:
O’Neal vs Westchester Country Day: Final 234-250, W
The Falcons returned from spring break with a nine-hole practice at Legacy Golf Links on Tuesday. On Wednesday, April 9, four of the golfers traveled to Jamestown (NC) Park Golf Club to take on the Westchester Warriors. The Falcons took the win by 16 strokes. Low for the Falcons was Dylan Wolfe (75) followed by Andrew Hobbs (76). Rounding out the scores for the Falcons were Zeyu Zhao (83) and Jack Manning (99). The lowest three scores counted for each team. The team finished the week with practice on Thursday at Southern Pines GC practice area.

Middle School Co-Ed Golf:
The Falcons had another strong week of practice as they move past the halfway point of the 2025 golf season. This week, the team will face Burlington Christian Academy at Longleaf Country Club on Tuesday, April 15th, with a tee time scheduled for 3:20PM

Varsity Girls Soccer:
O’Neal vs. Grace Christian: Final 2-4, L
The O’Neal Falcons Varsity Girls Soccer team showcased resilience and sharp execution in a competitive match against a seasoned Grace Christian squad on Tuesday afternoon. Although Grace struck early, the Falcons responded with focus and fire, proving they’re a team that’s ready to compete at a high level.

Midway through the first half, Charli Bunder sparked a momentum shift with a well-placed header that redirected play to the wing. Haddie Habets took it from there, using her explosive speed to fly past the Grace back line. With calm composure in a 1v1 against the keeper, Haddie buried the equalizer, sending the teams into halftime locked at 1-1.

Early in the second half, Sydney Davis drew a penalty after a hard challenge inside the box. O’Neal’s go-to from the spot, Kennedi Hamner, stepped up with her trademark confidence and slotted the ball low and right—just past the reach of the Crusader’s experienced goalkeeper—to give the Falcons a 2-1 edge.

As the clock wound down, adversity struck when key defender Kaylee Crow was forced to leave the game after a hard foul. The disruption opened the door for Grace to regain momentum, and they responded with three quick goals in the closing minutes to take a 4-2 win.

Though the final score didn’t reflect their effort, the Falcons played with skill, urgency, and cohesion. Their ability to create dangerous opportunities and respond under pressure highlights just how far this group has come—and the potential they carry moving into conference and state championship play.

Middle School Girls Soccer:
O’Neal vs Berean Baptist Academy: Final 7-1, W
Last Wednesday's game marked another victory for the Falcons. The team demonstrated strong cohesion and teamwork, coming together as one unit.

O'Neal vs Village Christian Academy: Final 3-1, L
Yesterday's game concluded with a loss for the Falcons, but as Coach Iz remarked, these are the types of games where the team ultimately gains more despite the defeat. While losing can happen in different ways, when the team puts forth their best effort and leaves everything on the field, it is something to take pride in.
The match was one of the most thrilling games the Falcons have experienced. Despite the 3-1 loss, the team showed resilience and fought hard until the final whistle, finishing the game with strength and determination.

Varsity Baseball:
O'Neal vs. North Moore: Final 3-11, L
The Falcons had trouble keeping the North Moore Mustangs off the bases in the loss on Wednesday afternoon. The Falcons did have a good eye at the plate though with Kaiden Taveras and Jack Habets each getting on base twice via the walk. Habets, Peter Sundborg, and Max Pashley all had 1 RBI on the day. The O'Neal offense was led by Parker Maxwell who had a line drive single going 1-3 on the day.

The Falcons will celebrate their senior night and recognize Max Pashley, Jake Shepherd, and Andrew Pavlovich on Monday night (4/14) at 5 pm at home versus Christ the Cornerstone Academy. Senior recognition will kick off at 4:45 pm.

MS Baseball:
O'Neal vs Fayetteville Christian School: Final 6-7, L
O'Neal battled Fayetteville Christian School in a close contest, ultimately falling 7-6 in a four-inning matchup. Liam Enslin led the offense, going 2-for-3 with a single, a triple, a walk, one run scored, and an RBI. Charlie Borland also contributed with a 2-for-3 day at the plate, including a single and a double, while Eli Williams added a single, a walk, and drove in two runs. On the mound, Oliver Gabor pitched three innings, allowing four hits, six walks, and seven runs—five earned—while striking out three. Enslin closed the game with a strong inning, striking out the side. As a team, O'Neal tallied five hits, eight stolen bases, six runs, and drew eight walks, with two players hit by pitch in the effort.

O'Neal vs Village Christian Academy: Final 6-6, Tie
O'Neal battled to a 6-6 draw against the undefeated Village Christian Academy in a tightly contested seven-inning game. Kaiden Taveras sparked the offense with a 3-for-4 performance, tallying three singles, three runs scored, and two stolen bases. Liam Enslin stayed hot at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two singles, a walk, two stolen bases, and a run scored. Charlie Borland added a single, a hit-by-pitch, a stolen base, and a run. On the mound, Parker Maxwell delivered a strong start, striking out seven over 4.2 innings while allowing four hits and two walks and zero earned runs. Enslin followed with two innings of relief, fanning four and giving up just two hits. Borland closed out the game, recording the final tag out at home to seal the draw.

Varsity Track & Field:
The O’Neal Track & Field team was back in action for their fourth meet of the season on Thursday, April 4th, traveling to compete in the NRCA Invitational against North Raleigh Christian Academy, Henderson Collegiate, and Ravenscroft.

One of the most fun moments from the meet came from our middle school 4x200m relay. With only three runners ready to go — Aiden Jones, Adrian Rodriguez, and Olive Scogins — the group went on a recruit mission to find a fourth. Wesley Williams stepped up without hesitation and helped them finish strong, perfectly capturing the heart of what it means to be a part of this team.

Throughout the meet, our athletes continued to show their growth and consistency, with several Falcons setting a new personal record for the fourth meet in a row. Special shoutouts go to Jack Browning, Matt Davis, Jamaya Hooker, Platon Korobko, Jacob Lindsey, Gabe Marrero, Chris O'Melia, Murphy Stanton, and Jacob Tracy for consistently hitting a new PR every meet.

Another exciting highlight came from Jamaya Hooker, who officially hit automatic state qualifying times in both the 200m and 400m — an incredible accomplishment for anyone, but especially impressive considering this is her first-ever season competing in track and field.

The Falcons continue to make steady progress, put in hard work, and show up for each other in big ways. It’s been a fun season to watch unfold, and we can’t wait to see what they’ll do next.
