O’Neal Falcons Reily Johnson and Olivia Maxwell Celebrate College Commitments

The O’Neal School celebrated the athletic commitments of Reily Johnson to Wake Tech Community College for Basketball and Olivia Maxwell to Campbell University for Cheerleading. The two athletes held their official signing ceremony before their family and peers on Wednesday, May 16th.
Johnson finishes her senior year at O’Neal assisting the Varsity Girls Basketball team to achieve their first state championship win in the school’s history. Head Coach of the Varsity Girls program, Donna Taylor, introduced Reily’s uncle Jayson Jones who pointed out how difficult it is for athletes to get to the next level and quoted Michael Jordan “if you put in the work, the results will come."

Maxwell heads to Campbell after two years without a proper cheer team. She has been a pillar for the Falcon Dance team and used the great technique she had from cheer to be a perfect addition to the small dance squad. Coach Casey Harrell, the Falcons’ varsity baseball coach spoke for Olivia as he had partnered with her in management of the boys baseball team and the Sandhills Bogeys where she served as an intern that paved the way for her to seek a career in sports management. Coach Harrell described Olivia as “having enthusiasm through the roof” and complimented her on seeking out opportunities to hone her skills and find a great fit with Campbell’s Cheer Program.

“We are incredibly proud of Reily and Olivia for their commitments to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level. Reily has been an exceptional player on our basketball team, demonstrating remarkable skill, dedication, and leadership on the court. Her commitment to play basketball in college is a testament to her hard work and passion for the sport. Olivia, with her boundless energy and enthusiasm, has been a standout in our sports management club and our dance program. Her commitment to cheer in college reflects her unwavering dedication and the positive spirit she brings to our community.” shares Athletic Director James Franklin.

Congratulations to Reily Johnson and Olivia Maxwell on your careers with O’Neal Athletics and good luck to the future in all your pursuits of excellence.
