This year a number of new schools attended the tournament. One in particular, Moore Square Magnet Middle School. To participate in our tournament a school must run at least one event. We had the honor of having Elizabeth Gardner (WRAL Meteorologist) supervising the Meteorology event. Not surprisingly, she was also very helpful in keeping us up to date with the impending inclement weather the week leading up to the tournament. She thoroughly enjoyed her visit to our campus and she promised me that she will continue supporting Science Olympiad here at O'Neal and across NC for years to come.
It was another successful tournament and a great yearly barometer the team’s preparation. Practice continues for the regional competition on Feb. 23 in Fayetteville and the State Tournament on April 27 in Raleigh.
